(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – June 18th, 2025) – After finally completing the first Saturday night show of the 2025 season this past weekend, the Oyster Bed Speedway community is eager to get a cleaner rhythm going and return to normal.

The next three weekends in Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island, will offer that, with championship point racing set to commence every Saturday at 6:00pm between June 21st and July 5th. The upcoming two will be special in some capacity, beginning this Saturday, June 21st, with the annual Fan Appreciation Night event, where fans will be put first and offered an experience of a lifetime.

General admission tickets for adults and youth (8-15) are 50% off, and Kids Rides, an autograph session, bouncy houses, and face painting will be offered throughout the event.

Event Storylines

The PiccottCare Legend Super Series had a strong start to the season last Saturday, making history with the first point-paying Legend races on Prince Edward Island since 2019. Out of a stout field of 10 cars, current points leader Chase MacKay (#71M, Bear Cove, NS) nabbed a double victory, leading every lap in his heat race and the feature, and taking home $300. His feature win was also his first in a Legend outside Nova Scotia.

Not too far behind was an intense battle between a pair of familiar competitors he ran with weekly on the Maritime League of Legends Tour last year. Stephen Piccott, Jr. (#34, Charlottetown, PEI) proudly represented his family business, PiccottCare, in memory of his late grandmother Diane, and had his best career Legend run to date, finishing second ahead of Tanton Wooldridge (#0, Summerside, PEI). It was Wooldridge’s second feature podium on the day, as he finished a Super Late Model career-best third in the earlier Universal Truck and Trailer 150.

All three drivers will continue the battle this Saturday, ready to electrify it into an all-time championship war. While the rest of the mainland pack alongside MacKay is currently unknown for round two, we can confidently discuss the other half of the field, filled with all PEI drivers – young and old – who made their Legend debut and are ready to take the next step with valuable seat time gained. These drivers are Tyler Smith (#27, Brackley Beach, PEI), Cole Doyle (#12, Stratford, PEI), Wyatt Peters (#33, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI), Hunter MacKinnon (#07H, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI), and Allison MacKinnon (#07A, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI).

Five other house divisions will support the Legends, with four entering their third rounds of the season and another returning to the high banks for the first time since their season opener on May 19th.

The Reliable Motors Beginner Bandolero division has a new championship point leader thanks to second and third-place results by sophomore Regan MacBeth (#34, Pisquid West, PEI). One point separates him from opening day triple winner Charlee Rayner (#24, Summerside, PEI). Landon MacBeth (#32, Pisquid West, PEI) is 16 points behind. Rookie Kace Scott (#81, Clyde River, PEI) debuted strongly on Father’s Day Eve, claiming a heat race podium and fourth in the extended 15-lap feature.

Mason Gillis (#9, Morell, PEI) remains the Reliable Motors Outlaw Bandolero points leader but has two drivers filling his rearview mirror, with the latest feature winner three points back. Hunter MacKinnon (#07, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI) recently ended a three-year winless streak with his first race win since 2022, which was also his first career feature win, pouncing on a late-race restart and avoiding a close call in an early incident. Simon Doyle (#91, Stratford, PEI), hanging on to third in points, is the final piece of the trio’s four-point bubble for the championship lead.

Irelyn Rose (#47, Halifax, NS) has led the most laps in the last two features, but a late-race caution in each dropped her to fifth and third-place results. Is the third time the charm? They are tied with Wyatt Peters (#33, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI) for fourth in the standings, who won his heat race at the last event.

Randy MacTavish (#76, Cornwall, PEI) leaped from fourth to second in the Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stock championship after claiming his first feature win since last year’s season opener, prevailing over a hungry Campbell Stewart (#3, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI) on Father’s Day Eve. Stewart maintained and extended his championship lead to four points, and rolls into this Saturday with back-to-back feature top-two runs.

Randy’s daughter Chloe MacTavish (#5) captured a feature top five in her first career start last weekend. Corbin MacAulay (#17, Charlottetown, PEI), third in points, is fresh off cracking the feature podium for the first time this season. Behind him, Ricky Bedell (#2, Montague, PEI) looks to rally from a motor failure and join MacTavish in revisiting feature victory lane for the first time in a year. Bedell’s last race win came last September in a semi, but his previous feature win was in June.

The Moore Well Drilling Outlaws return in full force for their second round on their calendar on Saturday, having been forced out of action by consistent weather conflicts since their season-opening races. Opening day triple winner Brady Albert (#12, Richmond, PEI) holds the points lead by 13 over Kendell Palmer (#45, Charlottetown, PEI), with Albert looking to remain unbeaten in his races since May 19th, and Palmer, who finished runner-up in the last feature, vying to dethrone Albert’s dominance.

Rookie Cash Bridges (#69, Miscouche, PEI) had a stellar beginning to his Outlaw career in the last go-around, collecting two qualifier podiums and a fourth-place feature result. Currently third in points, 15 behind Albert and two back of Palmer, he’s already looking like a championship threat. Looming not far behind is a three-car tie for fourth, including Jordan LeClair (#47, Alberton, PEI), Corey Bridges (#04, Ellerslie, PEI), and Bradley Richard (#49, Tignish, PEI). Corey won his heat and semi races on opening day, while LeClair finished third in the feature.

Mike Duskey (#42, Hampshire, PEI) continues to rely on consistency at the top of the Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stock board, now up by a further two points (+12) over Matthew Ford (#86, Ellerslie, PEI). Duskey has racked up two feature runner-up finishes in his return to full-time competition at his home track. Meanwhile, it’s been a roller coaster of a start for Randy Millar (#77, Freeland, PEI). While his qualifier runs, including two heat race wins, have been a significant help to his current third-place position (-13 points behind Duskey), Lady Luck has not gone his way across two features, with a car-related issue each time despite carrying a pace capable of winning.

Nick Chaisson (#27, North Milton, PEI) snapped a feature winless drought dating back to Canada Day in 2023 last Saturday, helping him to make a substantial jump to fourth in the standings, now 17 points behind Duskey. One point rear of Chaisson is rookie Devin Gallant (#36, Rustico, PEI), who came close to a heat race win on Father’s Day Eve, and led nearly half of the 40-lap feature but ultimately settled for fourth after multiple restarts.
