Oyster Bed Speedway Announces 2024 Schedule

(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE) – February 6, 2024

The management at Oyster Bed Speedway is thrilled to unveil the track’s 2024 stock car racing schedule.

The summer 2024 calendar features 11 race events between Victoria Day weekend in May and the second weekend of September, bringing a mixture of local racing divisions and the top regional tours within the Maritimes.

With much speculation of a dramatic silly season leading up to the Season Opener, there’s no doubt Prince Edward Island’s premier stock car racing oval will be a hotbed for tourists and local fans eager to witness the province’s best racing talents this summer.

Engines will be first fired up in Oyster Bed Bridge on the afternoon of Sunday, May 19 with the traditional Season Opener and Demolition Derby. From there, the racing action moves to eight Saturday nights, each with a 6 p.m. start time. The annual Labour Day weekend event returns on Monday, Sept. 2 with the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero September Shootout, which returns for the third consecutive year, and the Piston Cup race for the Street Stocks. A Demolition Derby will cap the event. The season concludes on Saturday, Sept. 7 with a championship finale under the lights.

The track will see two visits from the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series on Saturday, June 15 and Saturday, August 3. For the series’ second consecutive year at the 1/3-mile bullring, it will bring a new title sponsor in Easy-Kleen Pressure Systems, and each event will carry the same sponsors as last year in Chapman Brothers Construction (presented by Hynes Paving) and Universal Truck & Trailer. Inaugural series champion and former track champion Dylan Gosbee will look to defend his title crown and the UT&T 150 trophy. Fellow former track champion Greg Proude also seeks back-to-back victories after winning the track’s inaugural SLMS race, the Chapman Bros. 150, last year.

Joining the series on the June 15 card will be the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour, which contested a thrilling race of parity last year, won by Nova Scotia’s Caden Tufts. Joining the super late models on the August 3 card will be the Heart of a Champion Hot Rod Classics powered by Conrad Bros.

The track will welcome the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour on Saturday, July 27, hoping to build upon a popular race last year that featured one of the greatest battles for the win in track history, which was won by Nova Scotia’s Jarrett Butcher.

The drivers in the Bandolero, Mini Stock, Outlaw, and Street Stock divisions will compete for house championships in 2024. For the latter three divisions, in addition to year-long points battles, they will see a return of Super Series championships, which will be contested with three races per division.

Each event featuring a Super Series race will simultaneously award year-long and Super Series points to drivers, a format that will aim to intensify the racing product and add tension to the championship battles on certain weekends. More details surrounding each Super Series, including race lengths, will be released by the track as available.

The Outlaw division will host the Ahead of the Rest Mini Stock Challenge for the second consecutive year on Saturday, June 29 with the RE/MAX Rumble. Along with the regular four house classes, the Bomber division will kick off its first-ever points championship after multiple test runs last year, hitting the track on June 29, July 13, Aug. 10, and Aug. 24.

Marketing partners, nightly promotions, ticketing information, and more will be announced as the season approaches. Rain dates, if required, will be announced as available. Please note, the 2024 racing schedule is subject to change without notice.
