OYSTER BED SPEEDWAY UNVEILS 2022 SCHEDULE

(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – February 24th, 2022) – Management at Oyster Bed Speedway is excited to release their 2022 schedule of events. The schedule sees 12 stock car racing events from the Victoria Day Long Weekend in May to the Labour Day Long Weekend in September. The track will see five racing classes comprise their championship point racing schedule with visits from four Maritime touring series, highlighted by the return of the East Coast International Pro Stock Tour.

The Pro Stock, Street Stock, Outlaw, Mini Stock and Bandolero divisions will all compete for track championships in 2022. The Pro Stock, Street Stock and two Four Cylinder divisions will begin chasing their championships on Sunday, May 22nd with four drivers racing to the ultimate Prince Edward Island short track gold on Monday, September 5th. The Bandolero championship will begin on Sunday, May 29th and wrap up during the Maritime Street Stock Series 100 festivities on Saturday, August 27th.

Speaking of the Maritime Street Stock Series, the Oyster Bed Speedway portion of the five race, five track Series will return to the last Saturday of August after a successful debut in 2021. Jim Tingley (Turtle Creek, NB) scored a popular win in the 2021 edition that went the distance without a yellow flag. Oyster Bed Speedway is joined once again by the four New Brunswick paved ovals (Speedway Miramichi, Speedway 660, Petty Raceway and CENTRE for Speed) in producing the marquee Street Stock Series.

The East Coast International Pro Stock Tour will bring some touring series friends along with them on their pair of July visits in 2022. The Series will race on Saturday, July 2nd for a 150-lap feature and will be flanked by the Maritime League of Legends Tour, Passione Flooring East Coast Mini Stock Tour and the local Central Engine Services Street Stock division. The return of the Maritime Pro Stock Tour on Saturday, July 30th will see a second visit for both the Mini Stock and Legends Tour along with the Heart of a Champion Hot Rod Classics powered by Conrad Bros.

Keeping with tradition, the season will start and end with the popular Demolition Derby events on May 22nd and September 5th. Last September, over three dozen drivers lined up to smash their way to the cash in one of the biggest events at the track in 2021.

Several local series and track schedules were taken into consideration when the 2022 schedule for Oyster Bed Speedway was created. The schedule allows teams to schedule for weekends off throughout the season to enjoy the Maritime summer, compete at other race tracks throughout the region or simply relax and enjoy the downtime. This continues to build on bonds formed and strengthened at the Maritime Short Track Summit meetings, which most recently took place in November 2021 in Moncton, New Brunswick. The 2022 schedule is subject to change without notice as track and series operators continue to help further promote, build and strengthen the stock car racing industry in Eastern Canada.
