Five Divisions to Roar Around Oyster Bed Speedway Before Mid-Summer Break!

0

(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – July 3rd, 2025) – Oyster Bed Speedway’s 2025 stock car racing season continues on Saturday, July 5th, at 6:00pm for the fifth event on the calendar, with a race card featuring non-stop on-track action from five house divisions, each undergoing thrilling championship battles.

This Saturday’s races will be the last before a two-week break, followed by back-to-back special events between late July and early August. Entertaining fans ahead of the mid-summer break will be the Reliable Motors Beginner and Outlaw Bandoleros, Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bombers, Moore Well Drilling Outlaws, and Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stocks.

The Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stocks are off until July 26th, while the cars and stars of the PiccottCare Legend Super Series have until Labour Day (September 1st) to prepare for a historic championship finale.

It’s round five for the Beginner and Outlaw Bandoleros, round four for the Outlaws and Street Stocks – the latter returning to the high banks for the first time since June 21st – and round three for the Bombers.

Regan MacBeth (#34, Pisquid West, PEI) and opening day triple winner Charlee Rayner (#24, Summerside, PEI) continue to remain separated by one point for the Reliable Motors Beginner Bandolero points lead. Regan and his brother Landon MacBeth (#32, Pisquid West, PEI) continue to make significant strides in their second year. Rayner had a solid bounce-back last weekend with a runner-up feature finish after a qualifier incident.

Wyatt Peters (#33, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI) is the most recent – and reigning back-to-back – Reliable Motors Outlaw Bandolero feature winner, now trailing new championship leader Simon Doyle (#91, Stratford, PEI) by eight points. Sophomore – to the Outlaw class – Mason Gillis (#9, Morell, PEI) is now 12 points behind but still well within the mix, even after a close call during a qualifier last Saturday.

Hunter MacKinnon (#07, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI) has remained a consistent title and race-winning contender since his first feature win on June 14th. Irelyn Rose (#47, Halifax, NS) has come close multiple times to achieving the same milestone and needs a little more luck to go their way.

The track’s newest division, the Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bombers, made their return to the speedway on June 28th with a stellar count of seven six-cylinder cars, some debuting new looks, including that day’s triple victor Jamie Ronaghan (#59, Mount Albion, PEI), and Caycie DesRoches (#16, Mount Albion, PEI). That group looks to put on another excellent show this weekend.

While opening day triple conqueror Spencer Paton (#35, Souris, PEI) maintained his championship lead after that day’s races, Ronaghan and rookie Jason Arseneau (#68, Bear River, PEI) have reeled him in after fantastic performances during round two, each now 12 and 29 points behind. Zach Chappell (#44, Vernon Bridge, PEI) finished fourth in his first start this season, and Kate Bridges (#96, East Bideford, PEI) made substantial progress after a premature ending at the season opener.

As for the Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stocks, reigning Rookie of the Year Campbell Stewart (#3, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI) has yet to relinquish his points lead since the season opener. However, Ricky Bedell (#2, Montague, PEI) recently closed the gap by a narrow two points last Saturday, from -8 to -6.

Veteran and June 14th feature winner Randy MacTavish (#76, Cornwall, PEI) is 18 points behind Stewart, while sophomore Corbin MacAulay (#17, Charlottetown, PEI) has lost a bit more ground (-59) but remains persistently on the verge of a breakout performance. The driver with the biggest momentum out of the last event is Adam Holland (#01, Souris, PEI), who is fresh off his first career triple win.

The Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stocks make their grand return after taking a week off, and what a battle there is to be witnessed in their upcoming races. The difference between first and third is just five points, while the top six is within a 21-point bubble.

Multi-time crown jewel race winner Mike Duskey (#42, Hampshire, PEI) is another driver still at the top of the charts since Victoria Day (May 19th). The opening day semi race winner eyes his first feature win since 2023 while continuing to chase his first track championship. In hot pursuit behind him are multi-time champions Nick Chaisson (#27, North Milton, PEI) and Randy Millar (#77, Freeland, PEI), who each have recently had strong points days – Chaisson won the extended-distance June 14th feature and Millar claimed a season-best feature finish of second on June 21st.

Look out for rookie Devin Gallant (#36, Rustico, PEI) to continue impressing in his first full-time season with the class, and maybe even be a sneaky title threat. We’ll once again be seeing defending and recently first-time triple master Randy Snow (#26, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI) give it another go in the Oyster Bed Esso machine and attempt to make more trips to Palmer Automotive and Truck Center victory lane whilst marching up the standings.
