(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – April 8, 2025) – A new era of Legend car racing at Oyster Bed Speedway is set to begin during the upcoming 2025 season, and it comes with a fresh look, a familiar title sponsor, and big prizes.

Oyster Bed Speedway management recently announced that PiccottCare will be the 2025 title sponsor of the returning Legends division, which will award a championship for the first time since 2019. The division will contest four 30-lap races across the track’s 2025 calendar and be named the “PiccottCare Legend Super Series.”

PiccottCare is a family-owned and operated business on Prince Edward Island that has offered long-term care services since 1985. With multiple premium community care nursing homes across the province, PiccottCare is an industry leader in facilities, policies, and procedures, thriving each day as a team to bring the absolute best care to all its residents at all its facilities.

PiccottCare has supported Oyster Bed Speedway for several years and is no stranger to sponsoring the on-track product. In 2024, they were the title sponsor for the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour’s lone visit to the quarter-mile oval, and the Piston Cup Street Stock 100. Since 2023, their colours have been donned around the Maritimes by 2024 Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour Rookie of the Year Stephen Piccott, Jr., the son of former MASCAR driver and PiccottCare co-founder and co-owner Steve Piccott.

The PiccottCare Legend Super Series will embark on its 2025 campaign on Saturday, May 24th, headlining the track’s second event of the season. Rounds two and three will be contested across back-to-back Saturdays in late June on June 21st and June 28th, with the latter as part of the undercard for the RE/MAX Rumble.

Race teams will then have two months off to prepare for the fourth and final round which will follow after six Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour races between July and August, giving drivers the flexibility to take a break, travel elsewhere, or join the Tour when it visits Oyster Bed Speedway on Saturday, August 2nd.

Round four is scheduled for Monday, September 1st, the day of the track’s most popular yearly event, the Labour Day Stock Car Races and Demolition Derby, where a track champion will be crowned for the first time in six years. With the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero September Shootout also on the race card, it will be a fantastic opportunity for the future stars of Maritime stock car racing to showcase and prove themselves in front of many fans and other race teams.

To add further excitement and higher stakes to the return of Oyster Bed Speedway-sanctioned Legend racing, each of the four races will carry a $300 winning prize and a $550 podium purse, and the year-end championship points fund will include $2,500 for the top three best-finishing drivers. Between outstanding rewards in the house division and an additional two races sanctioned by the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour, 2025 is set to be a groundbreaking year for the Legend class on Prince Edward Island.

A plethora of young, gifted racers from across the province and the Maritimes are expected to partake, including full-time Oyster Bed Speedway Bandolero competitors who will pull double duty and gain crucial experience in a different and faster car, regional standouts from the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour and other tracks, and many others.

Multiple drivers have signalled their intent to compete, including Piccott Jr., current Oyster Bed Speedway Bandolero heavy-hitters Hunter MacKinnon and Wyatt Peters, veteran racer Allison MacKinnon, and Nova Scotia’s Irelyn Rose.

For the past several years, the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour was, usually, the only way to witness Legends at Oyster Bed Speedway, with occasional open races being sanctioned by the track. Mainland drivers like Cory Hall, Danny Chisholm, and Braden Langille are notable for collecting Tour wins at the track and using the Tour and track relationship as a pivotal step in their racing careers; all three are now competing for wins and championships at the Pro Late Model level, with Hall finishing runner-up in points in the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series last season and making several Super Late Model starts across the United States, Chisholm competing part-time on the Fort Garry Industries Pro Stock Tour and in the NASCAR Canada Series, and Langille recently announcing his intent to compete for the Pro Stock Tour championship.

With a Legend house division back and ready to thrive at the quarter-mile oval, local drivers seeking to climb the career ladder through the Bandolero, Legend, and Pro Late Model levels will have multiple key opportunities to get their feet wet on comfortable and familiar territory without the pressure of performing in regional touring competition and having to travel to mainland tracks.
