Races cancelled for the weekend due to deteriorating weather forecasts. Future makeup date TBA.

(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – June 4th, 2025) – As Mother Nature continues to lower people’s expectations with consistent conflicts at all Maritime race tracks, fingers are crossed for a weekend miracle very soon.

For Oyster Bed Speedway, the next attempt comes this Saturday, June 7th, for take two of event two, which was initially scheduled for May 24th, nearly two weeks ago. Saturday’s event – the track’s second of the 2025 season – will be the first of four in June, with another event following in early July, marking, on paper, five consecutive weeks of stock car racing at Prince Edward Island’s premier auto racing facility.

This weekend’s action will offer plenty of high-octane excitement and entertainment from five house divisions, each having started their seasons at the 40th Anniversary A&S Scrap Metals Victoria Day Season Opener on Monday, May 19th.

The Reliable Motors Beginner and Outlaw Bandoleros, Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stocks, Moore Well Drilling Outlaws, and Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stocks are on the upcoming race card.

The PiccottCare Legend Super Series, initially scheduled to open its season on May 24th, will now be hosted on Saturday, June 14th, to avoid a conflict with the Maritime League of Legends season opener this Saturday.

Event Storylines

It’s a busy new month at Oyster Bed Speedway, with numerous big events approaching fast, and prayers for better weather with the prime summer months nearing. After this weekend, the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series will host its first of two PEI races this year on June 14th – the Universal Truck and Trailer 150, round two of six on the Series’ calendar. Also headlining that event will be the PiccottCare Legend Super Series with its first of four 30-lap, $300-to-win features across the summer; they will be racing for three consecutive weeks between June 14th and June 28th.

The following two Saturday nights will include Fan Appreciation Night on June 21st – the annual fan activities and discounts event – and the RE/MAX Rumble on June 28th, where the region’s best non-domestic four-cylinder drivers will battle for a $1,500 winning prize in a pair of Twin 40s.

All five house divisions racing this Saturday enter their second events this season. Bandoleros will be racing weekly for the next month (June 7th till July 5th) before taking two weeks off. Mini Stocks are scheduled for four consecutive weeks between June 7th and June 28th, while Outlaws and Street Stocks are part of four events between June 7th and July 5th, with one break for each division.

Charlee Rayner (#24) leads the Reliable Motors Beginner Bandolero championship as the winner of all opening day races. Regan MacBeth (#34) and Landon MacBeth (#32) already look speedier than last year and will undoubtedly be eager to challenge Rayner as the season progresses.

Mason Gillis (#9) sits atop the Reliable Motors Outlaw Bandolero point standings coming off his first career triple win on opening day, which came at the hands of a dramatic feature finish. Gillis and three other drivers – Wyatt Peters (#33), Simon Doyle (#91), and Hunter MacKinnon (#07) – are within a 15-point bubble after one event.

Peters and MacKinnon finished on the feature podium while Doyle won each of his qualifiers but fell short of back-to-back opening day feature wins in a last-lap, final-corner incident. Nova Scotia’s Irelyn Rose (#47) came agonizingly close to a first career feature win after leading the most laps – keep an eye on Doyle and Rose to achieve major bounce-backs soon.

The first Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stock feature of the season went to reigning Rookie of the Year and current points leader Campbell Stewart (#3), who saved his best performance for last, which was helped by opening day draws putting him up front to dominate. Cape Breton’s Mikey MacDougall (#7) swept the qualifiers and sits one point back in the standings.

Sophomores Austin Corrigan (#10) and Corbin MacAulay (#17) performed strongly – Corrigan started his season with a feature runner-up result, and MacAulay almost won both qualifiers, ultimately ending the day with a feature top-five run. Veterans Ricky Bedell (#2) and Randy MacTavish (#76) are other drivers within a seven-point bubble between first and fifth – MacTavish finished third in the opening day feature ahead of Bedell.

It was the Brady Albert (#12) show at the Moore Well Drilling Outlaw season opener, as he smoked the field in his first runs in the former Ricky Millar and Mitchell Montgomery machine, which previously won the division championship in 2023. Albert leads multi-time champion Kendell Palmer (#45) by 13 points and rookie and former Mini Stock champion Cash Bridges (#69) by 15 points.

Fourth place has a three-way tie between Jordan LeClair (#47), Corey Bridges (#04), and Bradley Richard (#49); Corey won both of his opening day qualifiers. Defending champion Brandon Forsyth (#3) sits eighth, 31 points back, after placing a best finish of fifth in the Victoria Day feature, and eyes a substantial resurgence this weekend.

Opening day consistency has Mike Duskey (#42) up front in the Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stock division, who never finished worse than second and collected a close win in the semi race. The former Piston Cup champion is 10 points ahead of Matthew Ford (#86) and 13 points ahead of multi-time track champion Randy Millar (#77) – Millar was the division’s first race winner in 2025 in the heat race.

They are followed by two-time champion Colton Ford (#35) and rookie and former Outlaw titleholder Devin Gallant (#36), with the latter claiming a first career Street Stock feature top five on opening day. Tyler Gauthier (#30) went back-to-back in feature wins, dating back to last year’s season finale, executing a monster of a hard-charger performance while substituting for Sarah Jay (#30).
