(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – June 26, 2024) – A Canada Day Weekend classic is on the horizon for the cars and stars of Oyster Bed Speedway.
Many of Atlantic Canada’s best 4-cylinder drivers will visit the high-banked oval at Oyster Bed Bridge, P.E.I. on Saturday, June 29 to participate in the third-annual RE/MAX Rumble, a pair of 40-lap races hosted simultaneously by the track’s Moore Well Drilling Outlaw division and the regional touring Ahead of the Rest Mini Stock Challenge.
With over $6000 in the purse plus contingency prizes attached to the event, a load of cash plus championship points for the Outlaw division, Outlaw Super Series, and AOTR Mini Stock Challenge will be on the line across 80 laps of competition.
The RE/MAX Rumble was born in 2022 as an extended-distance event for Oyster Bed Speedway’s Outlaw division. In 2023, the track partnered with the newborn Ahead of the Rest Mini Stock Challenge to encourage drivers from outside the province to try the track and to help raise car counts. Former East Coast Mini Stock Tour winner Cody Byrne and defending Oyster Bed Speedway Outlaw champion Ricky Millar each collected wins in the Twin 40s.
The third annual running of the event is expected to be the biggest yet as over 25 teams from across Prince Edward Island and beyond have signalled their intent to battle for glory under the lights. Many of the mainland names, who carry multiple wins and championships at tracks such as Petty International Raceway and Speedway Miramichi, will be first-timers to the island and are sure to mix things up.
Pioneering the entry list are 18 P.E.I. drivers, mostly veterans, but some will be making their first-career extended-distance race start.
Brandon Forsyth (#3) leads the Moore Well Drilling Outlaw division and Outlaw Super Series points. After several years of collecting wins in the Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stock Division, Forsyth has made an immediate impact in 4-cylinder competition with a Victoria Day Weekend Season Opener win and a podium finish at the Father’s Day Spectacular.
Layton Delaney (#7) and Kendall Palmer (#45) are former champions who each have started the season strong with multiple heat and semi wins and podium finishes. Jessie LeClair (#46) might have the best momentum going into the RE/MAX Rumble after recently picking up his first feature win since 2019. His brother Jordan LeClair (#47) has shown great speed but has struggled to collect consistent finishes.
The LeClair family won’t be the only one with multiple drivers representing the last name proudly, as four Bridges are projected to make a start. Corey Bridges (#04) has steadily progressed since his Outlaw debut on May 19. Former Four-Fun champion Shane Bridges (#4) joins him and so do Four-Fun stars Cash (#69) and Jeff Bridges (#95). There will also be two Alberts, both rookies, Ethan (#11) and Brady (#38).
Harley Cornish (#13), Dre Folland (#33), Bradley Richard (#49), Jonathan Fitzpatrick (#78), and Jamie Cummings (#81) add to a talented veteran presence that is sure to entertain fans on Saturday night.
From the other side of the Confederation Bridge, the popular 10/60 Racing team from Salisbury will be exciting to watch. Former Petty International Raceway champion Mike Weagle (#60) and teammate Patricia Weagle (#10) have been collecting trophies and gaining fans in River Glade, N.B. for years and will now attempt to spoil the island party for the first time.
Joining the Weagles as fellow Petty International Raceway contenders are Irishtown’s Rob Poirier (#0), Moncton’s Nick Brun (#01), and Havelock’s Chris Garnett (#66). Nathan Richard (#35) enters the event as a young Speedway Miramichi phenom from Allardville, N.B.
Four drivers will enter the show from Nova Scotia. Daniel Webb (#07) and Lauchie Stubbert (#11S) come from the Cape Breton area while Steven (#98) and Dave Matthews (#99) hail from the outskirts of Halifax. Dave Matthews participated in the 2023 RE/MAX Rumble and initially won the first of the Twin-40s before being disqualified in post-race tech.
Note: There will be no heat or semi races for the Outlaws.

Supporting the third-annual RE/MAX Rumble Twin 40s will be four house classes; four have dramatic ongoing championship battles while one makes its 2024 debut.
Rookie Charlee Rayner (#24) and star Hudson Linzel-Waddell (#57) are tied for the points lead in the Reliable Motors Beginner Bandolero division. Rayner has made a statement in her first season and has set her intention on going for the championship after scoring back-to-back podium finishes, including a feature win on Fan Appreciation Night.
Defending champion Landon Pierce (#19) and Simon Doyle (#91) are separated by five points in the Reliable Motors Outlaw Bandolero division. Pierce’s back-to-back finishes have him in the lead while Doyle, who won the Season Opener feature, is wondering what could’ve been after a collision with Wyatt Peters (#33) on Fan Appreciation Night. Rookie Andrew O’Connor (#63) seeks two consecutive feature wins on Saturday.
Jeff (#95) and Cash Bridges (#69) will continue their battle for the Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stock division title, with Jeff leading by 11 points. Ricky Bedell (#2) isn’t too far behind and could be a dark horse for a feature win soon. Rookie Campbell Stewart (#3) has continued to rebound nicely from a big crash at the Season Opener.
In Gauthier’s Auto Repair Street Stock action, fan-favourite Randy Millar (#77) commands the field with a 19-point lead going into Saturday, having recently picked up his first feature win at Oyster Bed Speedway since 2012. With several drivers entering the Ricky Bobby 150 at Speedway 660 (Geary, N.B.) on the same night, the year-long points will experience a massive shake-up and multiple drivers will have a chance to step up and achieve glory.
Three-time champion Nick Chiasson (#27) and veteran workhorse Andrew Thompson (#4) are ready to pounce at any given opportunity. Chiasson came close to a feature win at the Father’s Day Spectacular while Thompson has relied on cleanliness and consistency to remain a championship contender. Brandon Albert (#37) has experienced rough luck after three rounds but could be at the front of the field dominating at any given time. Tyler Doucette (#24), Randy Snow (#26), and Sarah Jay (#30) are other notable names that fans will be cheering on to make things interesting.
The Alvin’s Auto Sales & Repair Bomber division will make its debut on Saturday with up to six cars expected.
The event has a green flag at 6 pm on Saturday, June 29. After Kids Rides at 5:30, the first of the two RE/MAX Rumble Twin 40s will begin the race card and the second will end the night, with heat, semi, and feature action for all other classes in between. Pit and grandstand gates open at 2 pm. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for youth, and children seven and under are free! Pit admission is $25 and requires a signed online ewaiver.
