(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – August 17th, 2025) – Charlee Rayner (#24) and Simon Doyle (#91) became the next drivers to etch their names into the Oyster Bed Speedway history books, clinching the 2025 Reliable Motors Beginner and Outlaw Bandolero championships, respectively, at the stock car races on Saturday, August 16th.
While Rayner’s best finish at the Bandolero title finale was only third, the Summerside prospect beat her championship competitor, Regan MacBeth (#34), twice out of the three Beginner races, with the results good enough for Rayner to hang on for the season-long crown by six points.
Rayner, the reigning Beginner Bandolero Rookie of the Year, concluded her sophomore season with two feature wins, one triple win, and four feature podiums across eight rounds. She finished fourth in the final 10-lap feature of the season, which was won by Nova Scotia’s Ben Turple (#55) for a third time this summer. Turple’s second triple win of the season saw Ryder Smith (#43) and rookie Kace Scott (#81) finish on the feature podium.
Turple won both the 10-lap heat and semi races. Six cars attended the Beginner Bandolero championship finale.
Meanwhile, in the Outlaw division, Doyle won two of his three races, capping the year off with feature win #3, his third within the last four rounds. The rising star out of Stratford maintained an amazingly consistent streak dating back to round two in June, with seven consecutive feature finishes of third or better. He capped his season with three feature wins and eight qualifier victories.
Ethan Hicken (#5) claimed second, along with a semi race win, in his first start at Oyster Bed Speedway this year, ahead of Wyatt Peters (#33). Hicken was joined by fellow Nova Scotian Brandon McGrath (#29), who made his first-ever start on Prince Edward Island, finishing seventh in the 15-lap feature.
Doyle and Mason Gillis (#9) won the 10-lap heat races, while Hicken and Irelyn Rose (#47) achieved 10-lap semi race victories. Eleven (11) cars took part in the Outlaw Bandolero championship finale.
Four more house classes roared onto the high banks on Saturday night, with some contesting the penultimate round of their calendars.
The Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bombers returned to the quarter-mile bullring for the first time since late July, with first-year racer Jason Arseneau (#68) recording another two-win night. Arseneau held off new points leader Jamie Ronaghan (#59) for both of his victories, including in the 20-lap feature. Nova Scotia’s Austin Petipas (#24) returned to Oyster Bed Speedway for the first time in two years and placed third in the semi and feature contests.
Ronaghan won the 10-lap heat race, and Arseneau got the job done in the 10-lap semi race. Seven (7) cars answered the call for the Bomber’s second-to-last round of the season, including rookie Kaleb McGee (#05).
Souris’ Adam Holland (#01) added a third career Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stock feature win to his resume, going back-to-back in point-paying events, ahead of veteran Randy MacTavish (#76) and points leader Campbell Stewart (#3) after 20 laps.
MacTavish and Holland each picked up 10-lap heat race wins, while Rosie Kitson (#13) achieved career win #1 in her 10-lap semi race after post-race technical inspections. Stewart won the other 10-lap semi affair. Ten (10) cars were on the grounds for this round, with three cars out of New Brunswick making their Oyster Bed Speedway debut – Matthew Warren (#11), Austin Harnish (#13H), and Wesley Harnish (#61).
For the first time since the 40th Anniversary Victoria Day Season Opener, Brady Albert (#12) emerged a winner in the Moore Well Drilling Outlaw (Honda) division, dominating the 20-lap feature while holding off rookie Cash Bridges (#69) for the victory. Past triple winner Jonathan Fitzpatrick (#78) rounded out the feature podium ahead of multi-time Pro Stock champion Matt Palmer (#5), who made his first start this year.
Bridges and Fitzpatrick scored 10-lap heat race wins, with Bridges’ being his first in Outlaws. Recent feature winner Bradley Richard (#49) and Corey Bridges (#04) picked up checkered flags in the 10-lap semi races. Eleven (11) cars took to the track for this division’s final race ahead of its championship finale.
In the Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stocks, former Piston Cup champion Mike Duskey (#42) finally drove back into Palmer Automotive and Truck Center victory lane for the first time since 2023, winning the 25-lap feature and making a statement ahead of the division’s championship finale on Labour Day and the later Emmett Donahue Memorial 100.
Points leader Matthew Ford (#86) and multi-time champion Nick Chaisson (#27) secured podium finishes. Veteran Kenny Snow (#36) took on a substitution role for rookie Devin Gallant, taking home a semi race win and a fourth-place feature finish.
Ford and four-time track champion Randy Millar (#77) won the 12-lap heat races, with Millar adding a 12-lap semi victory later. Ten (10) cars participated in this round, including Nova Scotia’s Dennis Nickerson (#78), who finished seventh in his first Oyster Bed Speedway feature.

Oyster Bed Speedway will take the upcoming week off to prepare for back-to-back events on Labour Day week, with only a five-day turnaround between races.
The next race day is the most popular event of each season, Labour Day Monday Madness on Monday, September 1st. Six stock car racing divisions are on the race card, along with Power Wheels kids races and a $1,000-to-win Demolition Derby. The Legends, Outlaw, and Street Stock divisions will host their final points races of the season, and the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero Road Trip comes to town for the Bandolero Road Trip. The starting time is 2:00pm.
