(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – June 8, 2026) – Oyster Bed Speedway hosted its second event of the 2026 stock car racing season, Fan Appreciation Night, on Saturday, June 6th, in Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island.
Six racing divisions — with 57 cars participating — and the first Power Wheels races of the season produced a thrilling show for a strong crowd at the 1/4-mile paved oval, with a mix of racing at daytime and under night skies and new LED lights. Kiddie Rides, a meet-and-greet autograph session, and numerous off-track activities also kept fans busy and interactive.
With points accumulated from the 41st Anniversary Season Opener on the May Long Weekend, five of the six divisions utilized the standard weekly lineup procedures for the first time in 2026, putting the best cars toward the back of the field throughout the night. The Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bombers were the lone exception as they had yet to contest their first races, with random draws deciding their starting lineups on Saturday.
There was just one triple winner, and for the Reliable Motors Beginner Bandolero division, it felt like déjà vu from start to finish. Kace Scott (#81) delivered a repeat performance with another trifecta, dominating the two eight-lap qualifiers and the 10-lap feature. Once again, Regan MacBeth (#34) remained his closest challenger and even led several laps across the evening. Landon MacBeth (#32) and rookie Rylie Gillis (#39) finished third and fourth in all three races.
The action ramped up in round two for the Reliable Motors Outlaw Bandolero division, with multiple races featuring a photo finish for the win. There was one right off the hop in the first 10-lap heat race, with Payton Gallant (#42) fending off Hunter MacKinnon (#07) and Nova Scotia’s Bristol Matthews (#99) in a three-wide sprint to the line for her first win in the division.
Later, during the 15-lap feature, Matthews and Mason Gillis (#9) methodically worked their way from the back of the field while avoiding two mid-race incidents. The pair lined up on the front row for a five-lap shootout to decide the winner. Across all five green-flag laps, the two stayed perfectly side-by-side without contact, with Matthews ultimately edging Gillis out by a foot at the stripe for her first divisional feature victory at Oyster Bed Speedway. Jake Campbell (#38), MacKinnon, and Gallant rounded out the top five.
Gallant, Ben Turple (#55), Irelyn Rose (#47), and Matthews were the heat and semi winners on the day, and all twelve (12) cars from the Season Opener returned for round two.
Jason Arseneau (#68) picked up right where he left off to close out 2025, carrying the momentum from his two season-ending feature wins straight into 2026. The reigning Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bomber Rookie of the Year captured two wins across the division’s three races on Saturday, quickly charging to the front both times and comfortably taking both checkered flags.
Spencer Paton (#35) and rookie Kaleb McGee (#05) cracked the 20-lap feature podium, with Randy Perry (#33) and rookie Logan Pineau (#21) finishing inside the top five. Paton won the 10-lap semi race. Seven (7) cars were on the grounds for this event.
“Ricky Bobby” Ricky Bedell (#2) continues to abide by the “if you ain’t first, you’re last” motto from the Talladega Nights movie in Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stock feature competition, claiming his second consecutive victory in Saturday’s 20-lap finale. Bedell charged from seventh to third at the start before a lap-two caution, and took the lead from Adam Holland (#01) for good with 11 laps remaining.
Randy MacTavish (#76), rookie Daniel MacIsaac (#88), and Chloe MacTavish (#5) completed the top five. The preliminaries were dominated by females, with rookie Caycie DesRoches (#16) and Chloe MacTavish each driving into victory lane for the first time in their racing careers from the front row. Nine (9) cars made up the starting field.
The Moore Well Drilling Outlaw division had an impressive car count for its second event of 2026, with the field consisting of fourteen (14) cars, including a pair of Nova Scotia racing veterans making their Oyster Bed Speedway debut. One of them had zero problem showing the P.E.I. boys how it was done, with Scotia Speedworld regular Jason Pickles (#0) charging from 10th to first in an exciting 20-lap feature.
The first 14 laps saw veteran Harley Cornish (#13) lead the way, with over half the field exchanging battles behind him. Corey Bridges (#04) took charge for two more laps until the yellow flag flew for a multi-car incident in turn one; a brake failure on Jeff Bridges’ (#95) car sent his car soaring over the turn-one hill and into the tire wall. Both he and Cash Bridges (#69), who got caught up in the incident after the fact, walked away uninjured.
On the restart, Corey Bridges cleared ahead of Pickles and Brandon Forsyth (#3) out of turn two — but it was down the backstretch and into turn three where Pickles made the daring, “Rowdy” (as he put it) three-wide move between Bridges and Forsyth to soar to the lead and hang on for an emotional victory dedicated to the late Kyle Busch. Bridges, Forsyth, Brady Albert (#12), and Cornish posted top-five finishes. Bradley Richard (#49), Layton Delaney (#7), Cornish, and Jonathan Fitzpatrick (#78) emerged victorious in heat and semi race competition.
Oyster Bed Bridge’s Colton Ford (#35) remains undefeated in Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stock feature action. While his previous win saw him lead every lap from the pole — following a random draw — across 40 laps, this 25-lap affair required the points leader to hard charge from the eighth position and avoid a lap-one, three-car pileup in turn four, which collected Dave Griffin (#3), Andrew Thompson (#4), and Darrell Ford (#53).
The day had been previously dominated by rookie Campbell Stewart (#30), who went from being unable to start the feature on Opening Day due to an engine issue to winning both his 12-lap heat and semi races on Saturday. During the feature, Stewart led the first five laps before the race’s second caution for a stopped Devin Gallant (#36). He then traded the top spot with defending champion Matthew Ford (#86) on the subsequent restart, while Colton Ford lurked just behind.
Stewart regained the lead for good with 12 laps remaining, but his bid for a storybook first feature and triple win was ultimately spoiled when Ford snatched the lead with five to go and ran away with the win. Stewart held on for second ahead of Nick Chaisson (#27), Mike Duskey (#42), and Matthew Ford. Gallant joined Stewart with his own pair of heat and semi race victories. Eleven (11) cars took part in Fan Appreciation Night.

Oyster Bed Speedway returns to action this Saturday, June 13th, for the track’s first “special event” of the 2026 season, featuring the year’s first Pro Stock/Late Model race on Prince Edward Island. The Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series and PiccottCare Maritime League of Legends Tour headline the show with the Universal Truck and Trailer 150 and PiccottCare 50, respectively. The Beginner & Outlaw Bandoleros and Street Stocks will play support with extended features. The green flag is scheduled for 5:00pm.
