(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – July 23, 2026) – Prince Edward Island’s biggest two weeks of stock car racing have arrived.
Oyster Bed Speedway returns from its two-week mid-summer break this weekend to kick off PEI Pro Stock Summer Thunder, a two-week showcase featuring back-to-back 150-lap showdowns from Atlantic Canada’s premier touring series – the Fort Garry Industries Maritime Pro Stock Tour and Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series.
The action begins with the BJ’s Truck Centre 150 this Saturday, July 25th, at 6:00 PM. The Fort Garry Industries Pro Stock Tour is fresh off one of the best IWK 250s in recent memory at Riverside International Speedway and ready to make its first of two 2026 visits to Prince Edward Island for Round Six of 10 on its schedule – a $4,500-to-win affair that’ll feature touring titans, local favourites, rising talents, and more.
A star-studded nineteen (19) car field will tackle one of the toughest ovals in the Maritimes, with 10-lap qualifying heat races presented by Atlantic Tiltload setting the stage for 150 green-flag laps of high-speed, wheel-to-wheel action under the lights.
A tight Pro Stock Tour championship battle enters the back half of its campaign with a massive shakeup behind points leader and defending champion Ashton Tucker (#2). The Miramichi, New Brunswick driver holds a 28-point advantage over second-place Jordan Veinotte (#11v), with 80 points currently separating the top eight drivers.
With Oyster Bed Speedway hosting two of the next three Tour races, the tight, quarter-mile bullring could prove to be a pivotal turning point in the title fight. Competition cautions, track position, and many more factors will be at play as some drivers look to stay within the championship hunt, while others hope the Island oval could turn their season around.
The pressure is on for the No. 2 Brad Silliker Motorsports team, especially with Tucker unavailable due to a prior commitment. The team has called upon four-time Pro Stock Tour Oyster Bed Speedway winner and 2006 Modified track champion Jonathan Hicken to fill in and help defend the points lead. He could be the man to wear the glass slipper on Prince Edward Island for Brad Silliker Motorsports, a team that has been attempting to conquer Oyster Bed Speedway for decades. With one of the track’s all-time greats at the helm, this could be their best chance yet.
Gage Gilby and 2024 Tour champion Jarrett Butcher (#54) have a lot of work to do following catastrophic DNFs that dropped them outside the top three in points. Gilby has quickly proven he can contend at Oyster Bed Speedway since debuting with a runner-up finish in 2024. Butcher is the 2023 winner of the BJ’s Truck Centre 150, looking to bounce back from a recent hard crash at the IWK 250 and end a 16-race Maritime premier touring drought since 2025.
An exciting Pro Stock Tour Rookie of the Year showdown hits Oyster Bed Speedway for the first time in 2026, with Nova Scotians Colton Noble (#0), Ayden Christensen (#24), and Owen Mahar each set to make their first Oyster Bed Speedway appearance in a Pro Stock. Mahar is a former Maritime League of Legends Tour winner, while Christensen is coming off an impressive IWK 250 performance.
Cory Hall (#83) is who the rest of the field will be chasing Saturday. No one has yet found an answer for the No. 83 team that has produced a level of dominance that no one else has in over 30 years of premier touring competition at Oyster Bed Speedway. The track’s top all-time premier touring winner swept both Pro Stock Tour races at the track in 2025 and has won the track’s last six premier touring features, dating back to August 3rd, 2024.
At Oyster Bed Speedway, “The Hurricane” may be fresh off a dominant Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series win this past June, but it’s a different story if we look Maritime-wide. Mechanical issues have affected Hall’s most recent outings, including the IWK 250. While more history awaits on Prince Edward Island, so does regular form for the No. 83 team.
Hall, Hicken, and Butcher will be joined by Islanders Dylan Gosbee (#16), Darren MacKinnon (#18), and Robbie MacEwen (#40) as previous Oyster Bed Speedway winners in premier touring competition. MacEwen is the most recent Islander to win in 2024, while MacKinnon has come extremely close since his previous 2015 win. Gosbee, while a former Super Late Model Series winner, has been searching for his first home-track Pro Stock Tour victory since debuting in 2011.
Former track champions Chris Hughes (#32), Brandon Albert (#37), and Mark LeClair (#51), along with 2026 debutant Brodie Lewis (#22), round out a stellar Prince Edward Island contingent that vies to keep the BJ’s Truck Centre 150 trophy on home soil.

While the Pro Stocks anchor the show, fans will also enjoy extended-distance championship point racing from three of Oyster Bed Speedway’s house classes, including the Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bombers, Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stocks, and Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stocks. Each division returns from the mid-summer break ready to resume intense points battles with special-event heats and features to begin the back half of the season.
The Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bombers have plenty of momentum after an instant classic of a 45-lap affair on July 4th. The “Beasts of the East” from Souris, Spencer Paton (#35) and Jason Arseneau (#68), produced one of the track’s craziest finishes in recent memory, with Paton narrowly beating Arseneau to the line for the win. Arseneau leads Paton in the championship standings by six points going into Round Three.
The Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stocks enter Round Five with three-time feature winner Ricky Bedell (#2) still in charge of the championship since Opening Day. The Montague driver regained his winning ways on July 4th, bouncing back strongly from a prior DNF. He slightly extended his points lead to +11, but Adam Holland (#01), Randy MacTavish (#76), and Rosie Kitson (#13) remain close behind within a 21-point bubble.
The Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stocks are in for the most laps, anchoring the undercard with a 40-lap feature, their third extended-distance race of the season. The previous event on July 4th saw significant points shakeups, fuelled by the absence of the once-points leader Colton Ford (#35) and the surge of reigning champion and feature winner Matthew Ford (#86) – the latter launched from fifth to first in points. He leads sophomore Devin Gallant (#36) by two points, followed by three drivers that form a 36-point deficit between first and fifth heading into Round Five.
Admission for the BJ’s Truck Centre 150 is $30 for adults (16+), $10 for youth (ages 8-15), and free for children seven and under. Pits are $40 and restricted to race teams and individuals aged eight (8) and older, with a completed eWaiver required.
Ticket booths and pit and grandstand gates open at 12:30 PM, with practices running from 2:00 PM to 4:50 PM. The green flag is scheduled for 6:00 PM. The rain date, if necessary, is Sunday, July 26th, at 2:00 PM.
