Oyster Bed Speedway Announces Twin Race Formats, Big Purses for Four Cylinder Marquee Races

(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – May 29th, 2025) – Oyster Bed Speedway management has announced important details about upcoming races for the track’s two four-cylinder stock car racing divisions, each set to host one marquee event during the 2025 season.

In the Moore Well Drilling Outlaw division, the RE/MAX Rumble – the division’s biggest annual event, scheduled for Saturday, June 28th – returns for a fourth consecutive year on the synonymous Canada Day Weekend date with some twists to the race formats and major purse boosts, including an increased winner’s prize of $1,500 and a guaranteed minimum race purse of $7,500.

First inaugurated in 2022 and proudly sponsored by RE/MAX Charlottetown, and widely considered the biggest Honda stock car racing event within the Maritimes (with some other Oyster Bed Speedway Outlaw-approved cars), the event will maintain the traditional Twin 40 format, but with some changes within.

Twin one will occur at the start of the race card and be a qualifier for twin two. While championship points won’t be on the line as majorly as they were in 2024 (three different championships were simultaneously sanctioned that year, including a regional one), each Prince Edward Island car that shows up and attempts to start will be awarded 15 show points, which will be reflected in the season-long championship point standings. The qualifier’s final results will then play a big factor in how the main race, scheduled to conclude the overall event, will commence.

For the feature, a.k.a. the money race, all cars will line up on the frontstretch in order of twin one’s results, with driver introductions to follow. Then, the twin one winner will draw a number, determining how many cars within the front portion of the field will invert to start the race. All cars not involved in the draw will start the race based on their qualifier finishing position.

The frontrunner after 40 more laps will go home with $1,500 in what will become one of, if not the richest four-cylinder race-winning prize across the region, with the rest of the top five claiming $750, $500, $300, and $250 for a total of a $3,300 top-five purse. What’s left over in the remainder of the purse will be disbursed equally amongst the rest of the finishing order.

There will also be contingencies and lap money at play, with all 80 laps being sold for $50 each – if all laps are sold, an extra $4,000 will be split equally among the competitors. All mainlanders will also receive bridge passes. For more information about the purse, contact Kris Fournier.

For the 2025 edition, all interested race teams are asked to fill out a registration form for promotional purposes and to help track management determine purse numbers. The registration form is available on the track website’s rules and registration page. An entry list will be posted the week leading up to the event.

The rules are the same as last year, with Oyster Bed Speedway Outlaw rules applying except for camber and muffler rules, which will not be enforced to accommodate mainland teams.

Since the event’s birth in 2022, the RE/MAX Rumble has gradually earned its title as the grandest Honda stock car racing event within the Maritimes, while also welcoming other Outlaw-approved cars. A Canada Day Weekend staple, it saw its highest car count in 2024 with 26 cars on the grounds. Notably, that year’s field featured 10 mainland cars, 10 track champions, and a former East Coast Mini Stock Tour champion.

In addition to the exciting additions and changes for the fourth annual RE/MAX Rumble, the cars and stars of the Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stock division will have their requests for a special event fulfilled in 2025.

On Saturday, August 9th, the primarily domestic four-cylinder car division (for reference, similar to the Bud’s Speedway Hobby Stock or Speedway 660 Sharp Shooter divisions) will sanction its own version of a twin-race event, similar to the RE/MAX Rumble, with big money on the line. Maintaining the usual length of 40 total laps per event due to the maximum capabilities of the used cars, the Mini Stocks will have Twin 20s for their marquee night.

Twin one will be a regular 20-lap championship point race, with the starting lineup determined by the regular inverted-best-point-averages system for features. Twin two will be a money race, with a draw deciding the starting lineup and the driver who rises above the rest after 20 more laps receiving $500. More details will be finalized closer to the event.

Note: The Mini Stock and Outlaw divisions will also have extended-distance 30-lap features during SLMS/MPST events they’re a part of (no semis during special events; in 2025, most of or all semi laps lost will be added to features, varying by division). Mini Stocks on June 14th, July 26th, and September 6th. Outlaws on July 26th and August 2nd.

In other news, track management has decided on Saturday, June 21st, as the yearly Fan Appreciation Night date that offers many fan discounts and activities, including lower ticket prices.
