(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – June 26th, 2025) – It was the Super Late Models headlining Father’s Day Eve. The Legends then took control on Fan Appreciation Night. Now, it’s time for the cars and stars of Oyster Bed Speedway’s Moore Well Drilling Outlaw division to shine in the spotlight, three days before Canada’s 158th birthday.
The traditional Canada Day Weekend race date at Prince Edward Island’s premier auto racing facility is quickly approaching, and, for the third consecutive year, it’ll feature one of the biggest four-cylinder stock car races in the Maritimes and the region’s greatest Honda race, the fourth annual RE/MAX Rumble. Inaugurated in 2022, the Outlaw division’s yearly marquee event – a pair of Twin 40s – will attract many of the region’s best four-cylinder talents.
Kris Fournier and RE/MAX Harbourside will present the RE/MAX Rumble – worth $1,500 to win at the end of all 80 laps and carrying a guaranteed minimum race purse of $7,500, plus lap money and contingencies – while Richard’s Quality Auto Repair is the presenting nightly sponsor.
The PiccottCare Legend Super Series continues its championship for a third consecutive Saturday for round three of four – again, 30 laps, $300 to win. It will be the penultimate race for the Legends ahead of a two-month break before their championship finale on Monday, September 1st, as part of Labour Day Monday Madness.
Additional house division action includes the Reliable Motors Beginner and Outlaw Bandoleros, Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stocks, and the return of the track’s newest class, the Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bombers, who return to the quarter-mile bullring for the first time since their season opener over a month ago. The Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stocks are off this week and will return on Saturday, July 5th.

Event Storylines
Big Money, Big Prizes, Big Names in 4th Annual RE/MAX Rumble!
After being part of the now-defunct regional Ahead of the Rest Mini Stock Challenge for the past two years and having points for three separate championships on the line one year ago, the RE/MAX Rumble will regain a “less is more” style and focus solely on promoting the Outlaw class whilst financially rewarding its drivers and the efforts of those who support from afar. While it’s not considered a regular championship point race, each car that shows up will receive 15 show points, which will be reflected in the divisional championship.
As for how things will work this year, each twin will start and end the race card. At the driver’s meeting ahead of twin one, all RE/MAX Rumble competitors will participate in a random draw to decide the starting lineup. Twin one will commence the show and be a qualifier for twin two. After twin one, all other house divisions will sanction their heats, semis, and features before the final Outlaw showdown.
To conclude the night, RE/MAX Rumble drivers will return to the race track and line up on the frontstretch in order of twin one results for driver introductions. When all cars are lined up, drivers are out, and after each is introduced, there will be inversion draws within the front half of the field to spice things up – for example, if the twin one winner draws number nine, they and the ninth-place finisher from twin one will swap positions to start twin two. The command to fire the engines back up and the green flag for twin two will follow.
After 40 more green flag laps, the frontrunner will walk away $1,500 richer, with the remainder of the field also receiving solid base payouts – notably, the total podium base pot is $3,250. The rest of the field will claim the rest of the overall $7,500 purse, with everybody obtaining an equal chunk of however much money is gained from the lap board – for example, if there’s a total lap pot of $4,000 and a 20-car field, each car will earn an extra $200.
As of press time, there are twenty (20) expected entries for this year’s RE/MAX Rumble – bear in mind, always subject to change, and usually a driver or two pop up randomly on race day. Thirteen (13) come from Prince Edward Island, prepared to defend home turf, while seven (7) mainlanders are confirmed and hungry for another successful mainland invasion after Mike Weagle’s sweep one year ago.
Eight (8) of the Islanders are former Oyster Bed Speedway champions, with three having captured an Outlaw title before – Brandon Forsyth (#3, Alberton, PEI), James Doucette (#5, Summerside, PEI), and Kendell Palmer (#45, Charlottetown, PEI). Doucette will return behind the wheel in the Ricky Myers and Matt Palmer-owned Honda. Past crownholders of the once-named Four-Fun division include Jonathan Fitzpatrick (#78, Winsloe South, PEI) and Outlaw rookies Cash Bridges (#69, Miscouche, PEI) and Jeff Bridges (#95, Kensington, PEI).
Two (2) other previous track victors will simultaneously climb into somebody else’s car and be on double duty. Defending Bomber champion Ryan Cormier (#95X, East Bideford, PEI) will race Jeff Bridges’ former title-winning Neon and a Bomber. 2021 Bandolero champion and young hotshot Tanton Wooldridge (#12, Summerside, PEI) will make his Outlaw debut, filling in for Brady Albert, and continue to compete for the Legends championship.
The other five (5) Island Outlaws, some of whom are seasoned veterans across multiple disciplines, will surely put up a challenge, including Corey Bridges (#04, Ellerslie, PEI), Bradley Richard (#49, Tignish, PEI), Cody Byrne (#67, Belfast, PEI), and Jamie Cummings (#81, Hampshire, PEI). Byrne is expected to be a favourite, as he’s a former, multi-time East Coast Mini Stock Tour race winner, and once a twin race winner at the 2023 RE/MAX Rumble. He returned to Oyster Bed Speedway for the first time since that race last Saturday, claiming a heat race win and a feature top five.
The fifth car, driven by divisional championship points leader Jordan LeClair (#47, Alberton, PEI), will have a substitute driver for the Rumble as he’s unavailable. They will remain anonymous until race day.
This year’s mainland invader list includes a mix of returnees and first-timers – some making their Rumble debut, some visiting Oyster Bed Speedway for the first time, and some returning for the first time in years. Four (4) are former regional and/or track champions, a recent one being Bud’s Speedway and Maritime All-Star Series Mini Stock champion Kody Quinn (#31, Sydney, NS), who’s had a stellar campaign so far this year with wins at Bud’s and Scotia Speedworld.
One of the best to ever race a four-cylinder – four-time Scotia Speedworld champion and two-time East Coast Mini Stock Tour champion Dave Matthews (#99, Nine Mile River, NS) – will return to the Rumble, along with fellow former Scotia Speedworld titleholder Steve Matthews (#198, Brookfield, NS) and recent Atlantic Championships winner Nathan Richard (#35, Allardville, NB).
Veteran Neil Miousse (#71, New Minas, NS) brings numerous wins from R&R (Miramichi) Speedway, Speedway 660, and Scotia Speedworld. “The Fentonator” Jason Fenton (#00, Eastern Passage, NS), once a Scotia Speedworld Truck driver and winner, recently got back behind the wheel and intends to trek across the Confederation Bridge as part of his return. Guy Basque (#27, Tracadie, NB) is set to make his Oyster Bed Speedway debut on Saturday.
Halfway for PiccottCare Legends, Two Point Difference for Gold!
Only two points separate Chase MacKay (#71M, Bear Cove, NS) and Tanton Wooldridge (#0, Summerside, PEI) after two out of four rounds for the PiccottCare Legend Super Series championship.
MacKay maintained his points lead after last Saturday thanks to two runner-up finishes and a semi race win, all of which came the night after a wreck at Scotia Speedworld. However, Wooldridge’s two race wins versus MacKay’s one closed the gap, and the former will have strong momentum fresh off a first career Legends feature win in point-paying competition.
MacKay continues to chase his second career championship within the region, his previous coming in Bandoleros at Petty International Raceway in 2022. Wooldridge vies for a third career championship and second in Legends, previously winning in Bandoleros at home in 2021 and later in Legends at Petty in 2023.
Stephen Piccott Jr. (#34, Charlottetown, PEI) and Daniel Vandenburg (#97, Lower Onslow, NS), third (-17) and fourth (-19) in points, have maintained consistency and are in prime position to pounce if anything goes awry at the top of the board. Rookie Cole Doyle (#12, Stratford, PEI) jumped from seventh to fifth in points (-29) after scoring his first Legends win in semi race action and later being awarded a career-high feature top five after post-race inspections. Samantha MacDonald (#14M, Dartmouth, NS) had a strong run in her first start on PEI in 2025, albeit losing her feature top five.
After this Saturday, which will set the stage for the championship finale, drivers will have until Labour Day – Monday, September 1st – to prepare for a historic race that will come down to the wire. Whether it’s taking advantage of open practices, competing at other tracks across the region, or joining the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour once their schedule becomes near-weekly starting in mid-July, there will be plenty of ways to get ready for the day we crown our first Legends champion since 2019.
Significant Shakeups in Championship Point Standings After Fan Appreciation Night!
Three more house divisions are back in action for a fourth consecutive event for their fourth races of the 2025 season. While each current championship leader remains the same since opening day on May 19th, the deck has been substantially shuffled across many positions throughout the field.
It remains a one-point deficit between Regan MacBeth (#34, Pisquid West, PEI) and Charlee Rayner (#24, Summerside, PEI) for the Reliable Motors Beginner Bandolero points lead, as both drivers recorded the same number of points last Saturday. Although Nova Scotians dominated all five races combined, capped by back-to-back feature wins for Ben Turple (#55, Lake Charlotte, NS), MacBeth and Rayner each had stellar performances – notably, Rayner improved upon her June 14th run with a fourth-place feature finish, the highest of the PEI cars, ahead of rookie Kace Scott (#81, Clyde River, PEI).
The Reliable Motors Outlaw Bandolero championship has turned from a three-driver, four-point bubble into two drivers separated by two points after three rounds. Since scoring a triple at the 40th Anniversary Season Opener, Mason Gillis (#9, Morell, PEI) has yet to forfeit the points lead. While he went winless last Saturday, consistent runs and a methodical hard-charge to third in the feature kept him in charge, now ahead of Simon Doyle (#91, Stratford, PEI). Doyle recorded his third qualifier win of the season and finished runner-up in the feature behind Wyatt Peters (#33, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI); each driver moved up into second and third in points.
Peters ended a winless drought in feature competition dating back to 2023; however, it was his first career point-paying feature win. Irelyn Rose (#47, Halifax, NS) also achieved a first win since 2023, theirs in qualifying action, and has been on the doorstep of a first career feature win every round. And how about reigning championship runner-up Andrew O’Connor (#63, Charlottetown, PEI) – after taking a hard hit to the outside wall during his semi race, his crew went hard to work to have it fixed and ready for the feature, and the efforts paid off with a hard-fought sixth-place finish. We’ll see if that team overcoming adversity provides momentum and confidence for a breakout performance on Saturday.
As for the Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stocks, four drivers have emerged as the favourites to fight for the season-long crown after three rounds – and remember, all of them are looking to wear their first. Campbell Stewart (#3, Oyster Bed Bridge, PEI) finished second in all three Fan Appreciation Races, all behind Ricky Bedell (#2, Montague, PEI), whose first triple win – worth 90 points – since Labour Day in 2023 jumped him from fourth to second in the standings, now eight points behind Stewart.
Randy MacTavish (#76, Cornwall, PEI) is only four points behind Bedell and 12 back of Stewart, with Corbin MacAulay (#17, Charlottetown, PEI) still well within striking distance, 35 points back of the lead. MacTavish had a solid points run last Saturday, completed with a fourth-place feature finish, while more misfortune plagued MacAulay’s efforts again. Based on his proven capabilities and overall pace when trouble doesn’t strike, it’s not a matter of if he’ll drive into Palmer Automotive and Truck Center victory lane – it’s a matter of when.
Austin Corrigan (#10, Dromore, PEI) returned to the high banks after missing the prior races and stormed through the field to his second feature podium within two starts. While he’s 92 points behind the lead, having one less start than the top four drivers, you never know what miracles and surges could be pulled off as the season progresses. Adam Holland (#01, Souris, PEI) also captured a back-to-back with another feature top five.
The Bombers Are Back!
40 days is the difference between May 19th and June 28th – that’s how long it will have been since the Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bombers have roared onto the North Shore.
The six-cylinder division – the track’s newest stock car class – enters its second of six races this season on Saturday and will be part of our next three shows between June 28th and July 26th. Defending triple winner Spencer Paton (#35, Souris, PEI) pioneers the field after one round.
It was a dramatic finish to a dominant opening day for Paton, as he had a close call in a three-wide sandwich with Jamie Ronaghan (#59, Mount Albion, PEI) and rookie Kate Bridges (#96, East Bideford, PEI) during the feature’s last lap. Luckily, the damage to Paton’s left front wouldn’t deny him of the win on a restart.
He leads Caycie DesRoches (#16, Mount Albion, PEI) by 13 points, who is fresh off two qualifier runner-ups and a fourth-place feature run. Rookie – to the Bombers – Randy Perry (#33, West Devon, PEI) is 17 points behind Paton after cracking the podium twice on opening day, including in the feature. Due to recent surgery, he’ll have reigning champion Ryan Cormier behind the wheel of his machine on Saturday.
Ronaghan, a triple winner in open competition last year, is 21 points behind the lead and looking for his first wins since then, followed by rookie Jason Arseneau (#68, Bear River, PEI) at -23 and Bridges at -31.
While five of the aforementioned names are back from the Victoria Day races, we hope to see the inaugural Bomber winner, Zach Chappell (#44, Vernon Bridge, PEI), make his 2025 debut very soon.
