Hall Wins Again & Bridges Dominate House Class Action!

(CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – August 4, 2024) – It may have taken Cory Hall (#83) more time to inherit the race lead this time compared to the Universal Truck and Trailer 150 in June, but once he did, he never looked back and took home his second win of the 2024 Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series season on Saturday, August 3, making it a clean sweep of the year at Oyster Bed Speedway.

The Pictou, N.S. driver chased after defending Chapman Bros. 150 presented by Hynes Paving winner Greg Proude (#29) for over 90 laps and eventually took the lead on lap 92. Hall’s win gave him the points lead by just four points over Ashton Tucker (#2), who settled for fourth after qualifying 14th and finished one position behind Hall in heat race action.

Proude won the EIT Race Radios pole for his final career Oyster Bed Speedway start and led the first 91 laps but lap traffic caused him to lose the lead and be unable to catch Hall. Robbie MacEwen (#40) continued his fantastic mid-summer run, collecting a podium finish after being involved in several crazy battles throughout the race. MacEwen held off Tucker for third and also had a long, bumper-to-bumper battle with Darren MacKinnon (#18) in the first half of the race. Unfortunately, MacKinnon ran into problems and finished the race two laps down.

Reigning series champion Dylan Gosbee (#16) claimed his second top-5 finish of the season at Oyster Bed Speedway while Tanton Wooldridge (#24) scored his first-career top-10 finish in Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series competition. Kent Vincent (#8) finished 11th and Troy Burke (#01) finished 13th in his return to the series.

The heat races were dominated by P.E.I. drivers, with MacKinnon, Gosbee, and Proude all taking home checkered flags. Only two cautions halted the race which had 19 cars start.

In Heart of a Champion Hot Rod Classics action, Ron Hefler (#10) dominated the 30-lap Subaru of Charlottetown Classic in his iconic red Midasizer car, claiming his first feature win of the season. Jeff Ainslie (#12) finished second after starting fifth and battling his way to the runner-up position. He held off Stacey Clements (#50) in a close battle in the closing laps.

Barry Hubley (#76) and Jim Rankin (#63) scored heat race wins. 11 cars participated in the 30-lap feature.

Cash Bridges (#69) continued his dominance in the Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stock Super Series, taking home his second consecutive win in the series and second win of the season. The Miscouche driver started fourth and charged his way to the top spot on lap five. He held off Randy MacTavish (#76) in the closing laps until MacTavish started to fall back, allowing Jeff Bridges (#95) to continue his charge from the tail end of the field and finish second.

Rookie Campbell Stewart (#3) made his first Super Series start and beat MacTavish to the line for third place. Fellow newcomer Corbin MacAulay (#17) started on the pole and led four laps but fell back and settled for fifth. Blaze Roberts (#6) finished sixth in a solid run. Ricky Bedell (#2) was eyeing a top-5 finish or better but a three-wide moment in turn one with Roberts and Austin Corrigan (#10) on lap two sent him around. Claya Doucette (#24) finished ninth in her first career start at Oyster Bed Speedway.

Stewart and Bedell won in preliminary race action.

It wasn’t just Cash Bridges who was in the spotlight for the Bridges name, as Corey Bridges (#04) claimed a long-awaited 20-lap feature win in Moore Well Drilling Outlaw action after several rounds of abysmal luck and car problems. The Ellerslie driver started third and challenged for the lead in a matter of seconds, diving to the inside line exiting turn two and battling Tyler MacLean (#78) for several laps.

Bridges cleared MacLean on lap five, leading the rest of the way but being hunted down and eventually fought side-by-side with by Jessie LeClair (#46) in the closing laps. LeClair attempted to get him on the inside line but ultimately wasn’t successful. MacLean settled for third while Colin Brewer (#3), who substituted for Brandon Forsyth, finished fourth and Kendall Palmer (#45) held off Jordan LeClair (#47) for fifth.

Shane Bridges (#4) beat Harley Cornish (#13) in a photo finish for seventh. Bradley Richard (#49) and Layton Delaney (#7) finished in the final two spots after getting together in a lap-one incident.

Richard and Jessie LeClair visited Palmer Automotive & Truck Center victory lane during the qualifying races.
