(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – July 28th, 2025) – In Pro Stock/Super Late Model competition at Oyster Bed Speedway in 2025, it continues to be the Cory Hall (#83) show.
The driver residing in Nova Scotia’s Pictou County wheeled his Kris Fournier RE/MAX and King Competition Fury car to another dominant Fort Garry Industries Maritime Pro Stock Tour victory in the BJ’s Truck Centre 150 on July 26th.
Hall has now won four of the last five Pro Stock/Super Late Model races sanctioned at Oyster Bed Speedway. This is his fifth career Maritime Pro Stock Tour win, his second on Prince Edward Island, and his fourth across five Tour races this year. He continues to extend his championship points lead on the Tour.
Once the race’s second and final controlled competition caution was displayed with about 70 laps remaining, Hall led every lap from then on after starting 10th. Despite that, multi-time Tour winner and Island veteran Darren MacKinnon (#18) gave Hall a run for his money and kept hot on his tail until the bitter end. It looked like fans were in for a wild showdown in the closing laps, but a late caution with 13 laps remaining helped Hall persevere on short-run pace.
MacKinnon was the Tour’s Swift Springs Hard Charger Award recipient courtesy of starting 13th and charging to second. It was MacKinnon’s first Tour podium since the 2023 BJ’s Truck Centre 150. Ashton Tucker (#2) finished third in his first Island start on the Tour, tying a career-best Pro Stock/Super Late Model finish at Oyster Bed Speedway. Tucker has yet to have a finish worse than third on the Tour this year.
Fun fact – this podium is a repeat of the 2024 Universal Truck and Trailer 150 for the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series.
Four Island cars finished within the top six. Multi-lap leader and two-time track champion Dylan Gosbee (#16) came home fourth in his first Tour start in three years. Reigning BJ’s Truck Centre 150 winner Robbie MacEwen (#40) rounded out the top five, ahead of former local champion Chris Hughes (#32), who recorded his best finish of the season to date after a roller coaster of a night.
For other Island cars, Mark Leclair (#51) placed ninth, Matt Palmer (#14) scored 14th, and Allison MacKinnon (#07) wound up 17th and last of all cars that completed a lap. Troy Burke (#01) did not start the race due to engine issues.
Aside from the two competition cautions, the one-hour-and-13-minute race was slowed by seven incident-related yellow flags, mostly minor. The big accident of the night came with under 15 laps remaining – after laps on end of a brewing feud between defending Tour champion Jarrett Butcher (#54) and previous Tour Rookie of the Year Gage Gilby (#25G), significant contact off turn four caused Butcher to lose control and spin, collecting Jordan Veinotte (#11v) in the process, who caught some air. The crash ended Butcher’s night, but Veinotte managed to finish seventh.
Hughes, Braden Langille (#26), and Gosbee won the heat races presented by Atlantic Tiltload, which set the field for the BJ’s Truck Centre 150. Cory Hall claimed the Eastlink Fastest Lap and R&D Performance Most Laps Led. Gary Elliott was the QA1 Free Pass. Ryan VanOirschot was the Fivestar Hard Luck recipient after an impressive run in the early stages that included many laps led, but a broken axle ended his night prematurely. Matt Palmer was the Lucas Oil Rookie of the Race.
The Tour raced in memory of Glen Terry, the father of the voice of the Maritime Pro Stock Tour, Tim Terry.
Ahead of the BJ’s Truck Centre 150, four support classes sanctioned by the track took to the high banks for extended-distance championship point racing action.
The Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stocks put on an incredible display of intense, but spirited competition, with all 40 laps in their lengthier feature going caution-free. Veteran Matthew Ford (#86) picked up the win, his first in a feature since August 2024, holding off championship leader Mike Duskey (#42) and two-time champion Colton Ford (#35).
Keaton Vessey (#001) scored a top-five in his first run in 2025 ahead of four-time track champion Randy Millar (#77). Matthew Ford won the heat race. Nine (9) cars were in attendance. The streak of a different feature winner in each Street Stock round this year now extends to five.
It was an emotional 30-lap Moore Well Drilling Outlaw feature win for veteran Jonathan Fitzpatrick (#78), who went back-to-back yet another dominant victory. The night started with heartbreak on the final lap of his heat race, as his right-front tire came off in turn four and went rolling down the frontstretch, but wasn’t harmful enough to prevent Fitzpatrick from winning later in memory of Susan Mahar, Laurie Bingley, and Linda McLaughlin.
Three-time champion Kendell Palmer (#45) and rookie Cash Bridges (#69) finished on the podium. Ethan Albert (#11) crossed the line third but lost all his results on the night due to an engine infraction. Palmer and Cody Byrne (#67) won the heat races. Twelve (12) cars were on the grounds. Fitzpatrick became the first repeat feature winner in Outlaws in 2025.
Campbell Stewart (#3) also became a two-time feature winner this year in the Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stocks, dominating that division’s 30-lap main race en route to his second of the season and the fourth of his career. He held off fellow sophomore Corbin MacAulay (#17), who recorded a career-best feature finish on his best night yet. Rounding out the podium was another second-year driver in Austin Corrigan (#10).
The heat race was won by Ricky Bedell (#2), who settled for fourth in the feature ahead of rookie Chloe MacTavish (#5). Eight (8) cars made the call for this event, with rookie Claya Cole (#21) notably making her first start since the May 19th season opener, but having the engine go up in smoke during the heat race.
In the Alvin’s Auto Sales and Repair Bomber division, Spencer Paton (#35) returned to Palmer Automotive and Truck Center victory lane for the first time since opening day, adding a second feature win on the year. Pont-Landry, New Brunswick’s Robert Legere (#04x) collected a runner-up finish in his first start at Oyster Bed Speedway, hanging on over Jamie Ronaghan (#59) in a fun back-and-forth battle.
Ronaghan won the heat race, which was quickly marred by an early incident that saw Kate Bridges (#96) hit the outside wall in turn three, ending her night early. Later, reigning feature winner Jason Arseneau’s (#68) steering rack blew, leaving him done for the evening. Seven (7) cars were part of this round.
Oyster Bed Speedway’s 2025 stock car racing season continues next Saturday, August 2nd, for an event featuring three regional tours and three house divisions, headlined by a 200-lap race for the Easy-Kleen Super Late Model Series’ second and final trip to PEI. The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour will join them for their first of two calls to PEI this year, and the Heart of a Champion Hot Rod Classics powered by Kimco will make their one-off visit. Three track classes will play support, including the Reliable Motors Beginner and Outlaw Bandoleros, and Moore Well Drilling Outlaws. The event start time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
