(CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – August 7th, 2025) – After a successful two weekends of Pro Stock Summer Thunder, Oyster Bed Speedway’s 2025 stock car racing season returns to regularly scheduled grassroots programming for the next few race weeks with the common, weekly championship point racing events.

In saying that, between this upcoming weekend and Labour Day, each show will still have a “headliner” within our house classes to pay attention to and not miss out on – for this Saturday, August 9th, it’s the marquee race of the season for the Chris’s Bobcat Services Mini Stocks!

The competitive domestic four-cylinder class will play host to the first annual Mini Stock Twin 20s on August 9th, a pair of high-stakes 20-lap races that will commence and conclude the event.

Twin one will reward championship points and be treated like a weekly feature, except it’ll be at the beginning of the race format this time. Twin two, the night’s grand finale, will be a “Dash 4 Cash” with driver introductions and a random draw to decide the starting lineup, with the winner at the end of 20 more green-flag laps taking home $500. All other positions will have increased winnings, and lap money will also be at play, with all proceeds disbursed through the starting field.

Reigning Rookie of the Year and defending and two-time feature winner Campbell Stewart (#3, Oyster Bed Bridge, PE) leads the season-long point standings by nine points over veteran Ricky Bedell (#2, Montague, PE), with sophomore Corbin MacAulay (#17, Charlottetown, PE) 60 points behind, but coming off a career-best night on July 26th with back-to-back runner-up finishes.

Other names like multi-time award winner Randy MacTavish (#76, Cornwall, PE), past triple winner Adam Holland (#01, Souris, PE), Austin Corrigan (#10, Dromore, PE), and a stout female movement including Chloe MacTavish (#5, Cornwall, PE), Rosie Kitson (#13, Charlottetown, PE), and Claya Cole (#21, New London, PE) are all expected to take part and challenge for a big cash prize. Reportedly, the fan-favourite Lightning McQueen Neon is also anticipated to be within the mix.

Fans will be treated to additional action from four more house divisions, including the Reliable Motors Beginner and Outlaw Bandoleros, Moore Well Drilling Outlaws (Hondas), and Fitzpatrick Consulting Street Stocks. The Bandoleros enter their penultimate championship round of the season, while the Outlaws and Street Stocks have three points races left to contest.

Regan MacBeth (#34, Pisquid West, PE) and Charlee Rayner (#24, Summerside, PE) are separated by nine points in a tight Beginner Bandolero championship. MacBeth came close to breaking a long, now five-race Nova Scotia feature winner streak last Saturday, which continued at the hands of consecutive winner Ryder Smith (#43, Wellington, NS).

Simon Doyle (#91, Stratford, PE) increased his Outlaw Bandolero points lead and the gap between him and Wyatt Peters (#33, Oyster Bed Bridge, PE) after last weekend’s races by seven points, thanks to a special event double victory and second consecutive feature win.

While the second-to-third deficit between Peters and Hunter MacKinnon (#07, Oyster Bed Bridge, PE) is larger (-18 versus -51), remember this – the next two rounds carry a three-race format (heat, semi, feature) instead of the special event two-race deal (heat, feature), meaning more points to play with and take advantage of, especially if misfortune strikes others. The time to peak with a season-best performance is now.

Multi-time champion Kendell Palmer (#45, Charlottetown, PE) only lost one point to Jordan LeClair (#47, Alberton, PE) in the Outlaw standings last Saturday, now at +13 – but the storyline to keep an eye on here is more about the teams behind them. Everybody from third to seventh gained strong momentum since Palmer and LeClair finished in the final two positions of the previous feature, so it’s now a 40-point bubble between first and seventh with three more races to go. It could be anybody walking away a champion on Labour Day in a month.

The Street Stock championship battle is starting to come down to the wire between two accomplished veterans, each carrying past big race wins but still hungry to claim and wear their first Oyster Bed Speedway summer crown. Matthew Ford (#86, Ellerslie, PE) went from -12 to -5 behind former Piston Cup champion Mike Duskey (#42, Hampshire, PE) after scoring a heat-and-feature sweep on July 26th. Four-time track champion Randy Millar (#77, Freeland, PE) is still well within reach to rejoin the fight at -27, but just needs a little more luck to go his way in the coming race weeks.

Notably, Ford is the only driver within the top three in points with a feature win this season – three drivers from fourth onward have combined for three feature victories, including three-time champion Nick Chaisson (#27, North Milton, PE), two-time victor Colton Ford (#35, Oyster Bed Bridge, PE), and a triple winner in June in Randy Snow (#26, Oyster Bed Bridge, PE). Do we see any of them or somebody else pull off a significant point night and reel themselves back into the title pursuit?
